croppedIt’s been over a month now that I’ve graduated from University, and as much as everyone is trying to tell me to enjoy the freedom you have between graduating and finding a new job, it simply drives me nuts not to have a daily routine, as I’m so used to having one. I find it hard to enjoy the summer, when in stead of sunshine there’s thunderstorms, floodings and I feel the need to cuddle up in a blanket anytime I sit down. I’ve even started drinking tea throughout the day to keep me warm and when I visited my parents they asked me if they should turn the heating on.

Lets go surfing: essentials for my beach holiday

Surf Essentials

I’ve been dreaming of learning how to surf since Aaron Carter covered “Lets go surfing” sometime in the early 2000s (yes, I was obsessed with him) – now that’s quite a long time ago I would say. Sunday morning it’s finally time for me to fly to Fuerteventura and to learn how to surf (hopefully…) in a surf camp in Corralejo, where my friend Anna and I will be staying for a week. We’ll be surfing (or falling on our faces), doing yoga by the beach, going long boarding in the beautiful scenery of the island and hopefully exploring the dunes and the other nature on horsebacks and quads. #GIRLPOWER: I did it. Master of Science in International Management

It’s been a bit over a week now since I’ve graduated from University. It still feels a bit surreal having a masters degree now and knowing that I have completed my studies, as I actually really loved university life (well, until it was time to study for the finals and I was having slight panic attacks, worrying about failure…) and will always look back to it as a time where I learned a lot, not only academic things but also a lot about myself and what I want in life.

Continue Reading →

Birthday picknick with friends

Dog and child

As the weather wasn’t so nice on my actual birthday, I decided to have the planned birthday picknick with my friends on Sunday instead. I had gotten up at six in the morning and started baking strawberry-coconut cupcakes as well as a blueberry pie and some little “Guglhupfs” aus we call them in german, so that I could still study for my finals before the picknick started at four in the afternoon. It was a lovely day and a lot of my friends & family came by to celebrate with me, which was really, really nice. Thanks again all for coming, and also for the gifts and food you brought along. Today was my 24th birthday. My little cutie-niece came into my bed, kissing me and singing happy birthday and we cuddled a bit before she went to get me a picture she drew for me. I have to admit that birthdays have sort of lost their spark for me, after all it is just another day – but what’s nice is to see how many people think about you and send you their love and wishes and simply think about you. It’s more a day of feeling grateful and aging in grace, than anything else, haha. Oh, and eating cake of course.

The past weekend was an extended weekend here in Austria, thanks to the public holiday “Pfingsten”. As my other half came back from Miami on Friday and we hadn’t seen each other in a while, we decided to spend a last weekend in Austria together, before I head over to Germany again after my final exam at the end of the month. We stayed in a lovely apartment right by the lake “Faaker See” and spent some quality time together, hiking through the forest with Cajou, going out on the water on a boat for a little while and simply relaxing and sleeping off Fabi’s jet-lag.

I feel like I haven’t been on vacation since ages, because I’ve always been busy doing this or that lately. And even though I was in the USA around New Years Eve, and that isn’t thaaaat long ago, I must say that city breaks simply aren’t ever as relaxing as a beach holiday where you can just relax and see the country side around you. As I’m graduating from my Masters at the end of May, I figured now is the perfect time to finally learn surfing as it’s been on my bucket list for a long, long time now. So I grabbed my friend Sarah and we’re off to Fuerteventura in June already (that’s next month, so exciting!!). We’ll stay in a surf camp in Corralejo and have 20-surfing lessons and some yoga classes by the beach. Somehow that sounds like the perfect holiday for me, as we’ll actively be learning how to surf (or how to fall off the surfboard haha…) and can relax with yoga inbetween. I also really want to explore some other parts of the island so I’m thinking of renting a car for some days 🙂 Do you guys have any advice and tipps for Fuerteventura? Because I’ve never been, haha. Restaurants? Places we must see? Anything that comes to mind – please comment below! 🙂  Continue Reading →
